Influences
Biggest musical influence: Dream Theater
I was introduced to these guys in the mid 1990's and have
been a huge fan
ever since. Their strange poly-rhythms and odd time signatures
just hooked
me as a drummer. I studied the work of their drummer, Mike
Portnoy and he
remains by far my biggest musical influence to this day.
More drumming influences: Dave Matthews Band, Ben Harper
Biggest spiritual influence: Third Day
It's only been in the last couple years that I've really
gotten into Third
Day's music. But Third Day is much more than music. You can
see God moving
through them as they play on stage and His anointing is all
over their
music. Spiritually they are a real influence to me as a Christian
musician,
and are a great model for Christian bands to strive for,
both spiritually
and musically.
