Paul Gratton started playing with the harmonica at the age
of 16, learning bits of blues brothers and Bob Dylan riffs
with his father. This blues foundation, combined with a difficult
first year at college led Paul to pick up a six string guitar
and learn to play “House of the Rising Sun”.
While in college at Iowa State University, Paul felt a desire
to use music for more than his own enjoyment and he began
to lead worship for campus fellowship groups. By his senior
year, a love of poetry and music led Paul to play at the
coffee shops of Ames, Iowa, and to the ISU varieties.
After graduation Paul moved to Des Moines where he continued
to lead worship for youth and young adult ministries as well
as sing and play solo original music in the coffee shops
of Des Moines. By spring of 2004 Paul felt the desire to
join a ministry based rock band and found such an opportunity
at the bulletin board of a local guitar shop. After contacting
Nate and Kat and practicing with the band Paul felt “right” about
joining Coram Deo and Coram Deo felt the same way about him!
Paul is delighted to be the newest member of Coram Deo and
praises God, from whom all blessings flow.
