Biggest musical influence: U2
U2 is one of the biggest rock bands since the Beatles,
and the intensity that Bono brings to the stage is incredible.
U2’s guitarist, the Edge, is a lover of technology
and creates sound-scapes which have created the heavily
delayed and easily identifiable U2 sound. The minimalist
approach on the guitar is something I’ve tried to
embrace and the Edge has been the primary model that I’ve
used.
More influences: Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Over
the Rhine, Medeski, Martin, and Wood.
Biggest spiritual influence: Waterdeep
Not only have they been a musical and lyrical influence,
but the down to earth Christianity of Waterdeep has
been a huge influence on my life. The raw-as-real-life songs
and coffee shop demeanor of the band speaks to my soul.
Combining
deep thoughts on God with solid musicianship, Waterdeep
has helped me understand the frailty and beauty of
a
life dedicated
to Jesus.
